Want— The Perfect Trench

The weather is just beginning to turn toward the better, and it's become clear that I need a trench. I've kept my eyes peeled for a long time, and I do believe I've found the perfect one at last. I love the draping, the structured shoulders and the color, the length is perfect, and the buckles at the collar are a nice finishing touch. The only flaw is the price, which is a touch on the spendy side for me. Somehow, though, I'm seeing a splurge in my near future...

SOTW— Oh, California

Once again, it's been far too long. I'm taking the time to hurriedly write this post before I get back to my final college application, which must be done in the next few days (it can't be denied any longer—I'm a serious procrastinator). I'll be spending all weekend indoors writing essays and doing drawings, and then on Monday I'll be free! Soon I'll be back to blogging regularly. In the meantime...

1) The title of this post comes from this Vampire Weekend song, which I recently discovered and am in love with. It actually makes me want to pack my bags and head to California (at least on vacation). Beaches! Sunshine! Taquerias!

2) The Onion + Facebook = endless amusement.

3) A friend introduced me to this special little item, which he discovered in a store in Paris...

4) This video has been floating around for while, but it's a must-see, so I'm posting it here. Watch!

5) A stylish coworker introduced me to this site, which absolutely takes home decor to the next level. Each collection of items has a story that introduces the artist behind it, and everything is so beautiful and tasteful. (Some of my favorites are the geometric planters, book lamps, and ceramic animal skulls.)

6) They tried. They failed. (Uggs will never be okay.)

7) Computer code, visualized.

Inspiration— Black, White, Leather, Gold

I can't deny it—black is my favorite color for Spring. And I'm absolutely obsessed with leather accents.

P.S. I went to Barneys today with some friends, and tried on a bunch of Helmut Lang. It was wonderful. I fell in love with this incredible blazer with super structured shoulders and chiffon sleeves. So good.

This Side Of

Well, patient readers, it's been too long! In the time that you haven't seen me, my taste in clothes has changed a bit—my wardrobe has yet to reflect said change fully (I'm slowly swapping things out), but I have done something I never thought I would. I bought white pants. In my defense (I've struggled with the idea of white on my legs and feet for years), these aren't just any pair of white jeans—these are Dries Van Noten-inspired dip-dyed jeans. I just love them.

I also love these crazy studded loafers (I featured them in a Want post a few months back). I've been told they look like a mean desert creature, and I couldn't agree more, and they're the perfect things to toughen up dresses or add texture to an all-black ensemble. I think I'm going through an all-I-want-is-crazy-shoes phase. Next on my To Buy list—mint-green oxfords with silver studs on the toes. Oh yes.

How pretty is the location for this outfit? It's the roof of the building next to ours—the downtown Seattle skyline is always a welcome sight (as is enough sunshine to merit sunglasses!).

Want— Bagmania

I think it's finally time for me to swap out my entire collection of bags—which is quite meager, for the record—for a new set that are more structured, sharp, and modern. Here's a selection of my favorite finds lately, from clutches to full-on weekenders, all under $100 (except for the Pendleton).

You can see every bag on my want list (approx. 60) here.
